GPIC picks LevLane as AOR

The government-funded, university-led Greater Philadelphia Innovation Cluster (GPIC) for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Phila., has selected LevLane as its first branding agency-of-record. Initially the agency will focus on developing an identity for the research organization. Later in 2012, outward-facing work will target all facets of the building industry, including property owners, architects, engineers and construction companies.

LevLane was selected based on a strategic positioning and on a creative brief. GPIC Manager of Public and Client Relations Christine Knapp states, “LevLane has a long history of tackling the region’s biggest problems. And the vision we share—that the solutions to these problems require environmental and economic initiatives that go hand in hand—makes them a natural partner for us. Their ability to present such initiatives within a socially compelling narrative will be a tremendous asset as we begin to make GPIC’s work known to our base.”

LevLane president David Lane adds, “GPIC’s assignment, and ours for them, is substantial, important work, for all the reasons we all well know: conservation, job creation. It is also an important opportunity for LevLane--our first chance to apply our branding and marketing skills within the energy use arena. This is messaging that will have the backing of the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE).”

The Greater Philadelphia Innovation Cluster (GPIC) for Energy Efficient Buildings is led by Penn State University and funded primarily through the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Regional Innovation Cluster (E-RIC) Initiative. Its goal is to develop and demonstrate, by 2015, innovative technologies, designs, systems, policies, and workforce training models that can help achieve a 50% reduction in commercial buildings’ energy use. GPIC’s offices are located at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, where outdated structures will be used as demonstration sites for retrofits. More information can be found at gpichub.org
