When most people hear “Happy Valley” they think about Penn State University and not much else. But Happy Valley has so much more to offer residents and visitors. Our agency partner came to us looking to produce content that would encourage people to visit Happy Valley through building awareness of all that their attractions have to offer.

Allen & Gerritsen developed a humorous creativity concept for a set of spots that feature an average family going through the humdrum of normal everyday life. The spots show relatable situations that are flipped upside down by a thrilling trip to enjoy outdoor sports, great restaurants, attractions, fun activities, and adventures in Happy Valley. With comedic dialogue, silly situations, and dynamic visuals, these spots are a lighthearted call-to-action for potential visitors.

Attempting to catch the last leaves on the trees before winter, the team had only a few weeks to cast our characters, scout homes, explore shooting locations around Happy Valley, curate wardrobe, and coordinate the logistics for production. Our crew filmed with talent at 14 locations in just three days. The original plan was to produce three TV spots. However, we were able to capture so much great footage to work with that the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau decided to add a collection of cutdowns and social media assets during editorial. Bowstring loves to collaborate with local clients and support our community through sharing stories that push the needle forward for the brands we work with. We hope the content that this collaboration produced will make Happy Valley’s summer tourism their best yet.
