Start your Thanksgiving Day with Philadelphia’s #1 family tradition—ONLY on 6abc! The 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition 93 years strong, kicks off on Thursday, November 22nd at 8:30am with a half hour preview show followed by three hours of parade action! Action News’ Rick Williams and Cecily Tynan will co-host the broadcast, with Karen Rogers and Adam Joseph LIVE along the parade route.
Philadelphia Phillies’ first baseman, Ryan Howard, is making his 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade debut this year.
Returning for his 5th Philly parade appearance is Good Morning America’s Sam Champion. In addition, Charlie McDermott, from ABC’s hit comedy The Middle, joins the parade team again this year. Kristen Alderson from ABC’s General Hospital will also accompany the 2012 star-studded lineup.
The 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade is known as having ‘something for everyone’ with 14 balloons, 15 floats, 18 marching bands from across our nation, and fan favorites from stage and screen.
Music superstars, ALL 4 ONE, will sing a medley of their hits and American Idol finalists Joshua Ledet and Philly’s own Justin Guarini will also lead key performances. Additional entertainment will include Disney Channel’s Coco Jones, Miss America 2012, Laura Kaeppeler, Grammy Award-winner Rita Coolidge, Season One winner of America’s Got Talent, Bianca Ryan, The Geator with the Heater, Jerry Blavat, Broadway performer and pop singer Frenchie, country music artist Charlie Worsham, the cast of THE MUSIC MAN, and Pennsbury High School Marching Band.
In attendance, especially for young parade-goers, will be Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and from Disney on Ice Presents Rockin’ Ever After, Rapunzel and Flynn, from Disney’s Tangled. Also included will be a special performance from the characters at Sesame Place.
Additional appearances include the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2013, Rachel Wyatt, Miss New Jersey, Miss Delaware, Miss Pennsylvania, Miss New Jersey’s Outstanding Teen, Miss Delaware’s Outstanding Teen, and Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen.
Unique to 2012 (and only seen LIVE or on Channel 6) is a special tribute to Dick Clark, an Olympic Salute featuring four local Olympic Gold Medalists including Carli Lloyd, Heather O’Reilly, Nicole Barnhart and Christie Rampone from the US Women’s Soccer Team, and more.
Viewers will be able to “Watch & Win” during the last hour of the continuous coverage on 6abc. By watching for key words to text, prizes will be awarded including: mini tablets, a video game system, and a Florida family trip to South Seas Island Resort.
6abc is thrilled to once again have Dunkin’ Donuts as the title sponsor of Philadelphia’s #1 Family Tradition. This year’s telecast will feature behind-the-scenes videos and interactive opportunities for viewers. The entire parade telecast will stream live on 6abc.com. Adam Joseph will also be both on-air and online as the feature reporter on the ‘Parade Fan Cam,’ presented by Dunkin’ Donuts. The ‘Parade Fan Cam’ can be seen starting at 9am Thanksgiving morning on 6abc.com. There, Adam will be LIVE, giving viewers a unique view of the parade, while uploading photos and chatting with viewers on his Facebook page.
Now in its 93rd year, Philadelphia’s most time-honored event is the longest running Thanksgiving Day parade in America. 6abc not only broadcasts the parade, but the station also produces the parade, in its entirety. More than 10,000 Parade volunteers, marchers, dancers, singers, and performers will participate in the parade this year.
