Philadelphia Media Network Inc. (PMN), owner and publisher of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, Philadelphia SportsWeek, and Philly.com announced that Jerry Steinbrink has been named Chief Brand Officer for the company and will be responsible for leading the company’s overall brand strategy across digital and print platforms, including paid and non-paid products for Philly.com, mobile, apps and e-commerce. With his strong background in digital media, Steinbrink -- the former Vice President of Publishing for Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports – will play a major role in the continued digital transformation of PMN, announced earlier this year as part of the company’s Project Liberty digital initiative. Steinbrink’s announcement is one of a number of Project Liberty-related developments that PMN has announced recently, following their most recent introduction last month of the first Android tablet in the United States to be bundled with news content representing PMN’s digital editions and The Inquirer’s new Android App.

As Vice President of Publishing for Consumers Union of the United States, Jerry managed the 6th-largest circulation magazine subscription base in the U.S. at Consumer Reports and the largest subscription-membership information website in the world at ConsumerReports.org with 3.3 million online paid subscribers.
Steinbrink has more than 30 years of experience in the publishing industry, including 10 years with Consumers Union. He has served as Vice President, Publishing since 2006, a position in which he oversaw branding, marketing, business development, product management, retail sales and publishing operations.
Steinbrink also had full responsibility for the financial performance of all Consumer Reports media products. In that capacity, Steinbrink drove strategy to increase Consumer Reports’ revenue and impact through online subscription growth and new product development. He also drove the recent acquisition of The Consumerist and forged content-sharing relationships with such companies as Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, PriceGrabber and the New York Times.
