Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia celebrates Black History Month with feature profiles of prominent members of our sports community discussing the impact race has had on sports, plus the personal struggles of local sports heroes. Black History Month on Comcast SportsNet is presented by Toyota.
Throughout Black History Month, viewers will get to know local athletes, coaches and sports legends that impacted the lives of others through sports. In addition, Comcast SportsNet’s on-air personalities and sports celebrities will share their personal stories of inspiration through a series of vignettes that will air throughout the month.
Every Friday during “Daily News Live,” the panel will explore the connection between sports and race. Topics will range from areas of progress to areas needing improvements, plus players and coaches as role models. Throughout the month on “SportsNite,” Comcast SportsNet will profile local and national stories that promote the spirit of Black History Month.
February’s edition of “Net Impact Philly” focuses on Black History Month with three touching stories, including former Villanova University All-American George Raveling, who has an original typewritten copy of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech; viewers will also get an inside look at the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City, MO; and there will be a special feature on the remarkable recovery of former Penn State football player Adam Taliaferro, who was told he would never walk again after he suffered a devastating injury on the playing field.
“Net Impact Philly” debuts on Sunday, February 5 @ 11:30pm and will replay throughout the month. The program will also be available to Comcast’s ON Demand customers beginning on Monday, February 6.
Toyota is the proud sponsor of Comcast SportsNet’s Black History Month programming.
